Political activist group protest the firing of FBI Director James Comey, viewed as an alleged escalation towards Fascism in the USA
New York - Political activist groups protest the firing of FBI Director James Comey, outside Trump Tower in Manhattan on May 10, 2017. The recent Trump administration move is viewed as a cover up of the Russia investigations, and an alleged ominous and dangerous move in a succession of steps towards consolidating Fascism in the USA the group said.
Statement from the group Refuse Facism:
The firing of FBI Director James Comey is an outrageous escalation in the unrelenting onslaught of fascist moves from the Trump/Pence Regime. This firing further reveals the Trump/Pence Regime's total disregard of the rule of law, due process and justice. Firing FBI Director Comey is an ominous and dangerous move – another in a succession of steps towards consolidating fascism.
Echoing Richard Nixon's firing of Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox in 1973, Donald Trump's firing of the FBI Director who is investigating the Trump campaign is a desperate attempt to obstruct justice and tighten their grip on power. It is a gross violation of the norms that were established through Watergate.
People must mobilize, take to the streets, and demand that Trump, Pence, Sessions, and their whole regime be driven from power. Rallying people all across the country to do this is the mission of RefuseFascism.org.
RefuseFascism.org's Call to Action states that the “Trump/Pence Regime is a Fascist Regime.” Again and again, they have shown that they “fully intend to shred political and social norms with catastrophic consequence.” And, that “Fascism is not just a gross combination of horrific reactionary policies. It is a qualitative change in how society is governed.” It requires knocking down obstacles to its power from the people or within the institutions of the government.
We must not try to “wait things out” hoping that a special prosecutor, or the 2018 midterm elections will deal with the grave danger that the Trump/Pence Regime poses to humanity and the planet, including threatening use of nuclear weapons. We must act together now, strengthen every act of resistance, and build towards the time when millions of people take to the streets day after day and night after night Demanding to Drive Out the Trump/Pence Regime.
